Wow! You may have a great find! From what I know about Gerome's bronzes is they did have a dark patina with gilding. Anything that is old will show wear. I would take it to a reputable art dealer or if there is a museum close by and get it looked at. You can probably do a little digging yourself on the origins of the piece and the FRANCE 52M. Please let me know what you come up with!</description>

		<description>I bought at a swapmeet a J.L. Germome "Ceasar Crossing The Rubicon". Looks geniune, gilding worn for age, 100 years, patina has degraded. Detail excellent, weight matches description from Sotheby's, size correct. Signed correctly, casting marked FRANCE 52M. How do I tell if it is "real" or a Knockoff? It is definitely bronze and sure looks correct.

Any Help would be appreciated. P.S., seller didn't know anything about it, nor was trying to push a sale, they were selling odds and ends junk.</description>
